Jazz

Becoming a good Jazz musician requires dedication to the active listening of various recordings from the past century. In contrast to classical music, Jazz is primarily an auditory art, meaning that is is learned mainly by ear and notation is more limited. Studying Jazz, will enable a student to strongly develop their ability to play by ear as well as read music notation at a basic level, although classical study will place much more emphasis on reading notation. Jazz study will truly enhance ones ability to improvise and play by ear which are both essential for overall musicianship.
